Armed Encounters

Armed Encounters

On this page there are reports of real life armed encounters by citizens of the United States that have been reported in almost all of the 50 states and the District of Columbia.  Most are recent accounts, while others are older accounts.  Most of these have been used with permission from the National Rifle Association.

Many such encounters do not make it into the news for various reasons, but they happen more frequently than one may imagine.  Consider the study that estimates that 2.5 million American citizens use their guns in self-defense each year, and it is obvious that all do not make it into the news media.  These instances of self-defense most likely never result in a shot being fired, but the firearm is used as a tool in protecting oneself or one's property.  Read and enjoy!
